This is the Pacific edition of the Vive Les Femmes. Results count as stage finishes but do not count towards GC, and points do not count toward rankings Today Vive Les Femmes enters the high mountains for the first of two extremely challenging stages which will dominate the GPM standings. Today we begin in the Vosges Mountains where a short run leads to a descent from the ultimate finish on Grand Ballon. After the long, fast descent, a run thru the valley leads to the intermediate sprint at km 37. Then the final, challenging climb back to the summit begins. The GPM line is at km 52, with maximum points, but it's still 8 km to the finish from there, with a gradual uphill sprint. This stage honors Kitty Knox, an African American racer from the late 19th century. She tragically died at only age 26, from kidney disease,. Unfortunately the color barrier she challenged remains at least partially intact to this day, 121 years after her death, with black women rare in professional cycling.
